Feasibility Studies

Researching an idea before starting a business may not cost much in cash terms but during this period, that time may be spent investigating the feasibility of what is planned for a business. This article gives some detail on how to go about applying for a feasibility study grant.



Business Development (CORD) Information

To help bring new ideas from the college campus to the market

(overseas)The aim of the Campus Enterprise Programme is to support the development of third level campus-based com

panies and support towards assessing the commercial viability of innovative technologies.

The programme also provides specifically designed business development and mentor facilities under the Enterprise Platform Programme.

What Costs are Eligible?

Maximum expenditure limits are:

Salaries/Wages €1,000 per week (none if employed by the college)
Consultancy €900 per day
Travel Economy class fare
Mileage within Ireland €0.60 per KM
Subsistence

24 hour period €200 per day; Day rate €60 (within Ireland). 24 hour period €400 per day; Day rate €70 (overseas)

Prototype Maximum support 25% of costs
Overheads Maximum 30% of actual wage/salary costs, or in the case of individuals where salary/wages are not paid, the actual cost of overhead sundry expense items (rent, phone, postage, stationery)

Maximum Support Limits

Cord Enterprise Platform Programme support is an Enterprise Ireland Category 1 support. Category 1 includes funding for consultancy, recruitment of a key manager, feasibility studies, market research, mentor network service, trade fair participation and training support.

There is a cumulative grant limit within a rolling two-year period for all proposals approved under this category of funding.  For further information, please discuss with your Development Adviser.

 

Am I eligible?

You are eligible to apply for this funding if you are:

  • A knowledge-based campus company
  • An academic entrepreneur
  • A researcher associated with PATs and Technology Centres Programmes
  • A non academic interested in establishing campus companies
